Annual Assembly of Grand Imperial Conclave

The Annual Assembly of Grand Imperial Conclave was held for the second time at the Masonic Temple, Edgbaston, Birmingham, on Tuesday 1st July 2008. The general consensus is that this is a much more accessible venue for the majority of Knights than Mark Masons’ Hall in London. On this occasion, a coach was laid on, in cooperation with our neighbouring Divisions, to transport Knights to the venue. This proved a popular move and will almost certainly be repeated next year.

From a West Lancashire perspective, the day was notable in that ten Knights of the Division received honours, four first appointments and six promotions. To all these Knights we offer our hearty congratulations for the recognition of the work they have done on behalf of the Division and the Order.

The meeting was also notable for the Installation of a new Grand Sovereign.

M.Ill.Kt. Cdr. Ronald Albert Champion, R.N., G.C.C. had decided not to seek re-election after twelve very successful years as Grand Sovereign. The recommendation of the Grand Sovereign’s Council was that the Deputy Grand Sovereign R.Ill.&Em.Kt. Richard Victor Wallis, G.C.C., should be nominated for election as Grand Sovereign. He was duly Installed as such in a memorable ceremony for all present.
